In my blog I am discussing the difference between Western conference basketball versus Eastern conference basketball. I believe as well as many others, that there are superstars on each side, but the debate goes beyond talent. There is a history of which side has had the upper hand in winning championship titles, all star games, map voting, and more. I plan on giving several examples on what teams have been unsuccessful for several years on one side, compared to the complete opposite on the other side.
The reason why I am choosing this topic for my blog is because there has been discussion for quite some time on which conference is better and why. I also play basketball so this is something fun and interesting to tackle at. I am going to begin with the history of both conferences.
In the NBA they have a special event for the fans called NBA All-Star Weekend. It is a weekend of skills challenges, three point contests, dunk contests, and a grand finale of the best players in the league, west versus east, pure territory rights. As of right now, the East leads with a record of 38-27, but in the past recent years, the West has started to make a comeback to even up the never-ending series. In the past 7 years, the East has only won once, making the western conference stacked with top superstars. Why has there been a sudden emerge?
Honestly there really isn’t a serious explanation as to why the Western Conference is ten times better than the Eastern right now. Some say the Eastern Conference is ruled by LeBron James, and the Western Conference is all about getting the best to go against the king of today’s game. LeBron is arguably the most dominant player of today’s society and everyone in the NBA knows and respects it. That is why the competition in the West is intense because they already know what the king wants, championships. The East is pretty much the joke of the NBA when it reaches playoff time. This past year, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Lebron were able to walk their way straight to the finals, having there be no real threat in any of the Eastern Conference playoff games. The sad truth is the Eastern Conference are in need of restocking to beat Lebron.
I am going to show a top 10 overall list of the best basketball players (not in order) of each position, point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center.
